About Dr. Philip A. Iannuzzi, Jr.
Philip A. Iannuzzi, Jr., is an educational leader and leadership educator dedicated to research, publishing, and leadership development. His book, Leadership Excellence: Empower Your Leadership with The Model for Sustained Leadership Success, distills over 40 years of experience and research across business, education, the military, the aerospace industry, and multinational organizations to provide current and aspiring leaders with valuable insights and strategies to sustain success over the long term.
A retired Air Force colonel and command pilot, Iannuzzi held senior leadership roles in the Department of Defense, including assignments as Pentagon program manager, major command division chief, flying squadron commander, director of global flight operations, and director of NATO’s Joint Task Force Operations Center.
Following his military service, he joined The Boeing Company, where he led a regional C-17 Globemaster pilot, aircrew, and maintenance training center. He later served as a senior leader in Boeing’s learning and development division, providing workforce development solutions for the company’s global Defense, Space & Security workforce.
Iannuzzi is a lifelong learner, educational leader, and educator. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Delaware Valley University, a master's degree in systems management from the Viterbi School of Engineering at the University of Southern California, a master's degree in air mobility operations from the Graduate School of Engineering & Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology, a master's degree in strategic studies from Air War College, and a master's degree in joint military operations from Air University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University's Smeal College of Business, where he also received his Air Force officer commission through the university's AFROTC program. As an educator, Iannuzzi taught leadership courses at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. As an instructor pilot, he trained Air Force pilots to fly, fight, and win—preparing them for their global airpower missions and combat operations.
An award-winning author, he received the Orvil A. Anderson Leadership Research and Writing Award and the National Defense Transportation Journal’s Memorial Medal for Literary Merit. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Air Medal.
He now devotes his time to leadership development education through research, writing, and consulting. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, travel, and spending time with family and friends. A portion of the proceeds from Leadership Excellence will be donated to charitable organizations that support leadership development and educational opportunities for future leaders.
